After a failed attempt to design myself a decent theme today, I went searching for a theme for this blog. Garland is now starting to get to me!
Though I've gone through every page of the list at http://drupal.org/project/Themes, I've not yet found a theme that is suitable for this blog, though I did manage to put together a list of what I think are the most visually appealing Drupal themes contributed to date.
I haven't tried out any of these themes, looked at their code or made note of level of maintainership. This list is based on design alone.
If there are any that you think I'm missing please feel free to leave a link in the comments!

This theme is the first Drupal theme that struck me as really visually compelling and just a touch different from most of the other themes out there. It's one of the first themes that I'd seen for Drupal that I'd considered using. I may be biased though - I'm a sucker for teal and medium blue.

It looks like this one may require a more complicated install, but it might be worth it. This is the cutest theme that I've seen and reminds me of a coastal version of the Drupalcon DC design (which I loved!).

The first on the list that was originally a Wordpress theme, this one is right up my alley personally. Since it *was* a WP theme it's tailored to a blog site but its super charming and not like most of the blocky blog templates you see out there.

Another Wordpress transport, this theme is just very clean and probably well suited for a site with a number of images. And hey, you're covered with a D7 compatibility guarantee.

As is made obvious by its name, this theme is another that is suited for image-heavy sites. This is one that I'd really love a reason to install and play around with. Perhaps a good photoblog solution?
